Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer to define the future of reliability in a global firm. You will lead incidents, design reviews and mentor engineers while shaping resilient, scalable systems in hybrid on-prem/cloud environments.

You will drive observability with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and related tools, setting SLIs/SLOs, reducing toil, and collaborating with stakeholders to prevent outages with minimal financial impact.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience.
• Deep proficiency in reliability, scalability, performance, security and toil reduction with SRE practices.
• Fluency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python or Go.
• Experience with observability tools and telemetry collection (Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch, etc.).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, Terraform, etc.).
• Experience with containers and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, ECS).

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates and champions site reliability culture and practices within your team.
• Leads initiatives to improve reliability and stability using data-driven analytics.
• Collaborates to establish service level indicators, objectives and error budgets.
• Acts as a technical lead for medium to large products and mentors engineers.
• Manages major incidents as main contact to minimize outages and financial impact.
• Designs and maintains OpenTelemetry pipelines in hybrid environments.
