Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer to shape the reliability of our applications across hybrid on-prem and cloud environments. You will lead a team, drive resiliency design reviews, and mentor engineers while delivering scalable Opentelemetry pipelines.

The role requires deep expertise in observability, container orchestration, and SRE best practices, with the ability to influence across stakeholders and guide large-scale production systems.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience.
• Deep proficiency in reliability, scalability, performance, security, enterprise system architecture, toil reduction, and other site reliability best practices.
• Fluency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, Go, etc.
• Proficiency and experience in observability and telemetry collection.
• Proficiency in CI/CD tools and automation.
• Experience with container and container orchestration.
• Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry collectors in production environments.
• Ability to expand and collaborate across different levels and stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates and champions site reliability culture and practices within the team.
• Leads initiatives to improve reliability and stability using data-driven analytics.
• Collaborates to define service level indicators and objectives with stakeholders.
• Maintains technical expertise across domains and solves bottlenecks.
• Acts as the main incident contact to resolve issues swiftly and reduce impact.
• Documents and shares knowledge across the organization.
• Designs and maintains OpenTelemetry pipelines in hybrid environments.
• Supports telemetry ingestion and export to backends for monitoring.
• Migrates legacy telemetry to OpenTelemetry while preserving stability.
