Job description
Lead Site Manager - Electrical Engineering

Location: Stone Head Office & UK Client Sites
Sector: Energy / Protection, Control & Automation

We are seeking an experienced Lead Site Manager with a strong Electrical Engineering background to provide leadership across UK site operations. This role is predominantly UK-based, split between a central head office in Stone and client sites nationwide.

You will be responsible for the safe, high-quality and compliant delivery of Protection, Control, Automation and Electrical installations across a range of energy sector projects, including transmission substations, large generators and industrial clients.

This position suits a senior site professional who can combine hands‑on site leadership with the ability to set standards, mentor site teams and drive best practice, particularly in Health & Safety and installation quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the installation, commissioning and customer acceptance of Protection, Control, Automation and Electrical systems, ensuring delivery to safety, quality, programme and specification

  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015, industry standards and client requirements

  • Provide leadership to multi-disciplinary site teams and subcontractors during installation and commissioning phases

  • Chair pre-start, progress and coordination meetings with clients and internal teams

  • Act as a subject matter expert for Health & Safety and site installation methodologies

  • Develop, review and support site documentation including Construction Phase Plans, SHE plans, RAMS, inductions and waste management plans

  • Undertake site surveys to support tendering and project delivery

  • Work closely with Project Management, Engineering and QESH teams to ensure effective resource planning and delivery

  • Control site drawings, Installation & Test Plans (ITPs), tools, equipment and welfare arrangements

  • Monitor site activities, assess competency of personnel and subcontractors, and carry out site audits

  • Mentor and coach Site Managers, supporting their professional development

  • Drive continuous improvement, developing site standards, processes and best practice

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a Senior or Lead Site Manager role within electrical installation environments

  • Strong electrical engineering background with understanding of minor mechanical works

  • Excellent knowledge of UK construction regulations, including CDM 2015

  • Demonstrated leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Structured, analytical approach with the ability to work under pressure

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel

  • BS 7671 18th Edition

  • SMSTS (or equivalent)

  • Recognised Health & Safety training (e.g. IOSH, CITB, RoSPA)

  • Temporary Works Coordination / Supervision

  • First Aid at Work

  • Asbestos Awareness

  • Impressed Voltages Training

  • National Grid Competent Person

  • Authorised SR163 (formerly TP137) Site Manager

  • Strong knowledge of National Grid procedures and standards
