Job summary

Amey is seeking a permanent Lead Senior Engineer (Bridges) to join our Consulting Structures team in the UK. You will lead technically sound bridge design and provide mentorship to junior designers, ensuring compliance with standards and client requirements.

You will oversee deliverables, manage budgets, and contribute to bids while delivering projects in a hybrid, flexible environment with a modern office in Newcastle.

Qualifications

• Experience and expertise in bridges and civil structures, gained in a Senior Engineer role or equivalent.
• Sound understanding of structural engineering principles.
• Ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and Client’s requirements.
• Ownership for the preparation and checking of deliverables

Responsibilities

• Lead a team to produce technically sound engineering solutions meeting quality, cost and programme criteria.
• Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and scheme deliverables.
• Oversee junior staff and manage actions.
• Take responsibility for the commercial success of projects, including budgets.
• Liaise with clients and suppliers at peer level and attend progress meetings.
• Contribute to bids and work winning activities.
• Drive health and safety practices within the team.
