A Vacancy at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Pharmacist to join our Emergency Floor team at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, covering the Emergency Department (ED) and Acute Medical Unit (AMU). This role is ideal for an experienced pharmacist who wants to develop or enhance leadership skills while managing a dedicated team of Pharmacists and Medicines Management Technicians (MMTs).

The Acute and Emergency Medicine service at the Royal Liverpool site is based in a brand-new hospital and includes the busiest A&E in Merseyside and one of the largest Acute Medical Assessment Units in the country. Working closely with clinicians, we have built a strong pharmacy team delivering a seven-day service to support patient care and improve outcomes.

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of delivering high-quality services and leading people effectively. Experience with hospital patients is essential, although previous work in acute or emergency care is not required. You will be collaborative, innovative, and passionate about setting the highest standards of care for patients.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and provide clinical expertise in the delivery and development of pharmacy services to the Directorate of Acute and Emergency Medicine and develop an exemplary clinical emergency floor pharmacy service.
  • Manage the Emergency floor pharmacy team on the Royal site on a daily basis to ensure safe and effective specialist clinical pharmacy service for patients and staff in the directorate.
  • Ensure good medicines management delivery and patient focused medicines optimisation for all Emergency floor patients.
  • Provide and lead on the strategic direction and implementation of pharmacy services to the Directorate of Acute and Emergency Medicine on the Royal Liverpool site.
  • Develop, manage, implement and evaluate Emergency floor pharmacy team services to the Directorate of Acute and Emergency Medicine.
  • Supervise the training of Pharmacy staff in the Acute and Emergency team and wider pharmacy team as needed.
  • Liaise with appropriate health care professionals within Primary Care Trusts to ensure the effective and efficient use of resources across the primary/secondary care interface and where necessary develop relevant protocols.
