Job summary

National Highways is seeking an Engineer to join the Pavement/Roads Team in the South East region, leading pavement renewal schemes to keep the SRN safe and reliable. The role involves collaboration with project teams and stakeholders, delivering early solutions, and ensuring adherence to standards.

The position may be based in Basingstoke or Maidstone, with potential unsociable hours and driving required. A professional body membership is desirable, and a relevant degree or HND is required.

Qualifications

• Membership of a professional Body (desirable) or working towards.
• Degree or HND in relevant discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of DMRB standards and their application on the highway network.
• Experience in highway infrastructure design, construction and delivery methods.
• Good knowledge of CDM 2015.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety of customers and employees throughout planning and delivery of each service activity.
• Support identification and management of asset studies and survey works, prioritising needs.
• Lead development of early solutions for renewals and improvements with value, materials, buildability and costs in mind.
• Develop technical briefs for design and construction contractors for improvements and renewals.
• Provide technical support to Project Managers with materials approvals, contractor vetting, on-site inspection and Health and Safety File reviews.
