Job summary

Mott MacDonald Group in the UK is seeking a Principal Overhead Line Engineer to join the Transmission & Distribution division. You will lead design delivery for complex HV OHL projects, using PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower and PLS-Pole, and mentor junior engineers.

You will manage route selection, reporting, standards updates, and liaise with multidisciplinary teams to meet client objectives while ensuring compliance with international standards and best practice.

Qualifications

• BSc or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in an OHL engineering environment with scheme and project/design management.
• Experience mentoring junior staff and leading teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform, review and approve High Voltage OHL designs complying with relevant international standards.
• Ensure designs comply with legislation, standards, policies and procedures.
• Update or create design standards and related documentation for continued compliance.
• Manage a team and mentor juniors.
• Carry out studies in line and foundation design, tower spotting, sag-tension, plan and profile, conductor selection.
• Prepare, review and manage specifications, schedules, BOQs and other design docs.
• Provide information to identify the best approach for complex multi-disciplinary projects.
• Investigate and implement innovative design solutions to meet needs.
• Provide input into proposals.
• Lead project and design review meetings and manage construction activities by contractor.
