Job summary

Join Mott MacDonald’s Transmission & Distribution team as a Graduate Overhead Line Engineer and contribute to resilient electricity networks for communities in the UK and beyond. Qualifications

• Masters degree obtained no earlier than 2025 or expected to achieve one of the following degree disciplines: Civil/Structural Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and analysis of high-voltage overhead lines in accordance with relevant international standards, client requirements and industry best practice.
• Help develop and maintain design standards, technical procedures and supporting documentation to promote quality, consistency and compliance.
• Carry out engineering studies covering line and foundation design, structure spotting, sag–tension analysis, plan-and-profile development, conductor selection, lattice tower design, and steel and wood pole design.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, schedules, bills of quantities and other design deliverables.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines to assess complex project requirements and identify practical, buildable solutions.
• Contribute innovative and cost-effective design solutions that support client objectives while maintaining safety, quality and sustainability.
• Use specialist software—including PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER and PLS-POLE—to model and develop transmission and distribution line designs.
