Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Graduate Overhead Line Engineer to join our Transmission & Distribution team in the UK. You will contribute to major HV overhead line projects, learning from experienced engineers while delivering safe, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions.

As a graduate, you’ll work across the project lifecycle, develop design standards, and use specialist tools such as PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, and PLS-POLE to model designs.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Electrical Engineering (obtained no earlier than 2025) or expected.
• Less than 12 months' relevant experience (placements excluded).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and analysis of high-voltage overhead lines according to international standards and client requirements.
• Develop and maintain design standards, procedures and documentation for quality and consistency.
• Carry out engineering studies including line and foundation design, sag–tension analysis, plan‑and‑profile development, conductor selection, lattice tower design, and steel/wood pole design.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, schedules, bills of quantities and other design deliverables.
• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to assess project requirements and develop practical solutions.
• Contribute innovative, cost-effective design solutions while maintaining safety, quality and sustainability.
• Use software including PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER and PLS-POLE to model line designs.
