Job summary

Mott MacDonald is recruiting a Principal Overhead Line Engineer to deliver high voltage line designs across multiple projects. You will provide specialist advice, manage design work, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires extensive OHL experience, proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower and AutoCAD, and strong leadership abilities. Hybrid working is available across multiple UK locations including London and Glasgow.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in an OHL engineering environment with scheme and design management.
• Mentor to junior staff and lead design reviews.
• Knowledge of British and international standards for OHL design.
• Capable of chairing meetings and communicating with project teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform High Voltage OHL designs compliant with international standards.
• Lead design delivery across multiple projects and coordinate with the team.
• Update design standards and related documentation for compliance.
• Manage a team and mentor juniors.
• Provide technical input into proposals.
• Utilise PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole and AutoCAD for designs.
• Oversee construction activities by contractors and lead reviews.
