Job summary

Government Recruitment Service is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Technical Officer to join the Vehicle Services leadership team in a busy, safety‑critical environment. The role focuses on processing technical applications to ensure full assessment and document compliance with DVSA standards.

You will respond to technical queries, advise front line colleagues, operators, manufacturers and others, and help drive continuous improvement in testing processes.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical assessment of vehicle applications.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and DVSA requirements.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional assessment of heavy vehicle statutory test applications for first tests and conversions.
• Assess applications of ECWVTA for approved vehicles.
• Advise non-technical processing teams and frontline staff on DVSA services and publications.
• Investigate solutions to mitigate risks and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with the Vehicle Policy Team on new initiatives and standards.
• Communicate clearly with internal/external customers to explain requirements and responses.
• Represent DVSA at trade events and perform related tasks as required.
• Maintain relevant databases and records.
