Job summary

Government Recruitment Service seeks a Heavy Vehicle Technical Officer to join DVSA, playing a pivotal role in assessing complex vehicle applications and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

The role involves advising front line staff, operators, manufacturers and other agencies, responding to queries, and contributing to safety, compliance and operational performance across the vehicle testing network.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to assess heavy vehicle statutory test applications and ensure documentation is compliant.
• Provide expert technical advice to non-technical teams and frontline staff.
• Collaborate with policy teams on new initiatives and regulatory changes.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional assessment of heavy vehicle statutory test applications for first tests and conversions.
• Assess ECWVTA for approved vehicles.
• Support non-technical teams and advise operators, manufacturers and the public on DVSA services.
• Investigate solutions to mitigate risks and improve processes.
• Represent DVSA at trade events and support data maintenance.
