Job summary

Government Recruitment Service in Aberystwyth is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Technical Officer to ensure applications are fully assessed and compliant with DVSA standards. You will advise front line teams, respond to inquiries, and support policy development in collaboration with the Vehicle Policy Team.

The role focuses on risk management, regulatory compliance and maintaining high safety standards across the vehicle testing network.

Qualifications

• Responsibilities include assessing heavy vehicle statutory test applications for first tests and conversions.
• Provide technical advice to processing teams and frontline staff.
• Investigate issues and mitigate risks while maintaining safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional assessment of heavy vehicle statutory test applications for both first test and vehicle conversion, checking reports and supporting documentation, ensuring compliance.
• Undertake assessment of applications of approved vehicles via the ECWVTA teams.
• Provide technical support to non-technical processing teams and act as advisory service to operators, manufacturers, trade organisations and the public.
