Job summary

Government Recruitment Service is recruiting for a Heavy Vehicle Technical Officer to help ensure compliance of complex vehicle applications and support the DVSA vehicle testing network.

The role processes technical applications, answers technical queries, and collaborates with policy teams to develop clearer guidance and standards. A focus on risk management and customer-facing advice is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience assessing heavy vehicle statutory test applications.
• Ability to interpret regulations and provide clear guidance.
• Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Experience in policy and standards development.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional assessment of heavy vehicle statutory test applications for first test and conversions.
• Assess applications of approved vehicles via ECWVTA teams.
• Provide technical support to non-technical processing teams and act as advisory service to staff, operators, manufacturers and others.
• Investigate possible solutions to solve issues or mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with Vehicle Policy Team on new initiatives and standards development.
• Communicate clearly with internal and external customers to ensure understanding of requirements.
• Support Heavy Vehicle Processing Manager and represent DVSA at trade events.
• Maintain relevant databases as required.
