Government Recruitment Service is recruiting for a Heavy Vehicle Technical Officer in Chelmsford. You will assess complex vehicle applications to ensure regulatory compliance and provide expert technical advice to processing teams, operators, manufacturers, and the public.

You will work with legal/technical assessments, support policy development, and help DVSA meet its key targets while maintaining safety and high service standards across the vehicle testing network.

Qualifikationen

• Experience in assessing heavy vehicle applications and compliance checks.
• Ability to interpret legislation and DVSA standards.
• Proven track record of solving complex technical issues in a regulatory environment.

Aufgaben

• Provide professional assessment of heavy vehicle statutory test applications for first test and conversions, ensuring compliance.
• Assess applications of approved vehicles via the ECWVTA teams.
• Offer technical support to non-technical teams and advise frontline staff, operators, manufacturers, and others on DVSA services.
• Investigate potential solutions to mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with the Vehicle Policy Team on new initiatives and standards.
• Communicate clearly with internal/external customers to capture requirements and respond accurately.
• Support the Heavy Vehicle Processing Manager and represent DVSA at events when required.
• Maintain relevant databases as required.
