Job summary

ScottishPower is seeking a Lead Engineer – Circuits Risk in Glasgow. You will shape strategic asset risk plans for the transmission network and influence investment decisions, while ensuring regulatory reporting and industry alignment.

You will lead maintenance strategies, develop condition assessment approaches, and collaborate across teams to balance priorities and deliver high standards of asset reliability.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Chartered membership of the IET or working towards it.
• Comprehensive knowledge of transmission system assets including construction and operation.
• Strong knowledge of asset risk management approaches and ALARP principles.
• Expert knowledge of transmission overhead lines.
• Working knowledge of industry codes and standards.
• Understanding of the Electricity System Operator, Transmission Owner and Distribution Network Operator roles.
• Knowledge of transmission network design approaches and regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic long-term asset risk plans for the transmission network and influence investment priorities.
• Shape maintenance strategies for transmission overhead line assets.
• Develop condition assessment strategies for overhead line assets and feed data into asset risk systems.
• Ensure investment strategy aligns with Ofgem reporting requirements.
• Manage asset risk and liaise with industry parties on transmission system.
• Provide engineering support across SPEN as a technical specialist.
• Engage with stakeholders on asset risk management and industry representation.
• Plan workloads across multiple activities while meeting deadlines.
