  • Ensure our investment strategy is clear and fully justified in line with Ofgem reporting requirements
  • Manage a network and asset assurance framework that demonstrates the fitness for purpose and performance expectations of our asset base
  • Manage asset risk and liaise with other industry parties on the transmission system, defining asset management strategies and plans in a cost-effective manner

  • Chartered membership of the IET or equivalent, or working towards this qualification
  • Comprehensive knowledge of transmission system assets, covering construction, operations, working practices, and systems
  • Strong knowledge of asset risk management approaches, risk assessment methodologies, and ALARP principles
  • Expert knowledge of transmission overhead lines (required for this role)
  • Working knowledge of industry codes and standards
  • Familiarity with the industry structure including the separate roles of the Electricity System Operator, Transmission Owner, and Distribution Network Operator
  • Knowledge of transmission network design approaches and regulatory frameworks impacting SPEN
  • Awareness of commercial issues related to distribution and transmission networks, financial policies and procedures, and SPEN's strategic aims within the ScottishPower and Iberdrola groups
  • Knowledge of international activities in power systems operations (beneficial)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to write clear reports and present complex technical matters to non-technical audiences
  • Track record of providing quality service and meeting customer expectations
