Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a senior engineer to lead the integration of the MGU within the Formula 1 hybrid powertrain, driving reliability, efficiency, and power density across the team. You will oversee prototype development, testing programs, and data-driven iterations to deliver race-ready solutions that comply with FIA regulations.

The role requires a strong background in high-speed motorsport technologies, rotor-stator integration, and materials knowledge, with experience in

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (or related).
• 8+ years in high-speed electric motors, motorsport ERS, or hybrid powertrains; Master's/PhD with 5+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-disciplinary teams—electromagnetics, mechanical design, thermal, controls—to integrate and optimize the MGU within the hybrid powertrain.
• Oversee prototype development, dynamometer testing programs, and data-driven iterations guiding engineering functions to race-ready solutions.
• Direct design reviews, FMEA processes, documentation, and FIA F1 regulation compliance for MGU power, weight, RPM limits, and safety interfaces.
