Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is recruiting a senior engineer to lead the integration of the MGU within the Formula 1 hybrid powertrain. You will direct cross-disciplinary teams across electromagnetics, mechanical design, thermal, controls, and advanced manufacturing to optimize performance, reliability and power density.

The role requires extensive experience in high-speed electric motors or hybrid powertrains, rotor-stator integration, and knowledge of FIA regulations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in high-speed electric motors, motorsport ERS, or hybrid powertrains.
• Experience with rotor-stator integration and high-speed dynamics.
• Knowledge of FIA F1 power unit regulations and DFM/DFA principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-disciplinary teams (electromagnetics, mechanical design, thermal, controls) to optimize the MGU.
• Direct prototype development, dynamometer testing, and data-driven iterations.
• Oversee design reviews, FMEA, and FIA compliance activities.
• Foster innovation in materials, manufacturing advances, and scalable e-motor production.
