Job summary

Turner & Townsend in Edinburgh region seeks an Engineering Design Manager to lead design input on major infrastructure projects. You will guide multi-disciplinary teams from early concepts through delivery, ensuring designs are buildable, compliant and innovative while coordinating with clients and partners. Strong BIM, CAD skills, and Chartered Engineer status preferred, with a track record of high standards and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience leading design through full lifecycle across multiple sectors.
• Strong knowledge of BIM and data environments.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering; Chartered Engineer preferred.
• Experience with CAD tools such as AutoCAD or Revit.
• Excellent communication with clients and staff.
• Self-driven with results-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Manager to manage external design consultants; ensure contract duties are discharged.
• Lead technical assurance, review constructability, manage design interfaces.
• Manage multi-disciplinary teams of engineers from consultants and partner companies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and design coordinators.
• Liaise with clients, Engineering Managers, Project Managers, Contractors.
• Drive development of innovative, practical engineering solutions meeting requirements.
• Embed health, safety, and environmental considerations.
• Ensure integration across civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical and electrical.
• Ensure constructability and reliability across asset lifecycle.
