Job summary

DVLA in Swansea seeks an experienced Application Operations Engineer to support internal and customer-facing applications while helping migrate legacy systems to cloud-based platforms. You will mentor junior engineers, resolve complex incidents, and contribute to continuous improvement within a technical framework.

The role includes 4-on/2-off shifts (6am–2pm or 2pm–10pm) with a 20% shift allowance, and optional on-call coverage for out-of-hours support.

Qualifications

• Experience in application support and handling large incidents.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers.
• Strong communication for varied technical audiences.
• Experience documenting best practices and knowledge bases.

Responsibilities

• Monitor applications, investigate incidents, and coordinate resolution with stakeholders.
• Lead and mentor junior Application Operations Engineers.
• Maintain a team knowledge base and best-practice documentation.
• Contribute to Problem Management with technical input and root-cause analysis.
