A day in the role as a Laundry Aide at Niagara Long Term Care Residence.

As a laundry aide at Niagara Long Term Care Residence you will be placed in a role with high expectations as you will provide exemplary housekeeping needs to the residents of our home. This position stands out above other laundry aide positions because in this role you get to see the effect you have on a person's everyday life. It is expected that you make personal connections with the residents, as providing them care is our top priority.


This position reports to the Environmental Services Manager and is a part time position. Candidates must be able to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends. Schedules will be provided.
In this position you will be part of our housekeeping team, and will be responsible for but not limited to:

  1. Providing clothing and linen support services,
  2. Sorting linens, loading and unloading washers and dryers, ironing and mending as required,
  3. Folding, sorting and loading linen and clothing onto carts for distribution and delivery,
  4. Discarding and recording inappropriate inventory when necessary,
  5. Maintaining high sanitation standards, providing a clean, safe environment for residents utilizing infection control principles,
  6. Following cleaning schedules and routines for the department and ensures the proper care and economical use of resources,
  7. Observing the operation of machines and reporting malfunctioning to team leader,
  8. Assisting in maintaining laundry facilities, equipment, and supplies,
  9. Completing cleaning duties as outlined in the laundry room area, as well as other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  2. General knowledge of washing machine and dryer,
  3. Knowledge related to infection control, cleaning practices, housekeeping operations and equipment,
  4. Ability to work independently or as a team,
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and residents,
  6. Demonstrated commitment to learning and continuous improvement,
  7. High School Diploma,
  8. Basic computer skills,
  9. Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB test results from less than 6 months, evidence of flu shot must be able to provide three work references.
