Salary: £90-£105 per day (dependent on experience)
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Language Intervention Assistants to support pupils with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) across SEN and specialist settings in Aylesbury. This flexible supply role is ideal for individuals looking for day-to-day work, short-term placements, or longer-term opportunities while making a meaningful difference to children's communication and learning development.
You will work with pupils with a range of needs including SLCN, ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and complex needs, supporting language development in line with individual education plans and specialist guidance. Roles are available in primary, secondary, and specialist provisions, depending on your experience and preferences.
Deliver targeted language and communication interventions on a 1:1 and small-group basis
Support pupils to develop speech, language, comprehension, and social communication skills
Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and Speech & Language Therapists to implement intervention plans
Assist pupils' academic, emotional, and social development through structured communication support
Use visual aids, communication tools, and tailored strategies to support learning
Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
Support with personal care where required, depending on the setting
Experience supporting children or young people with speech, language, and communication needs (formal or informal)
A patient, empathetic, and encouraging approach
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and specialists
Flexibility to work across a range of SEN and specialist settings
A genuine passion for helping pupils develop confidence in communication
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Speech & Language support training, CACHE, or SEN-related study) are desirable but not essential
