A leading spirits company in Scotland is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to provide technical support for distillation processes through laboratory analysis and ensure compliance with quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a scientific qualification at HNC level or above, alongside strong laboratory skills and proficiency in analytical methods. The Laboratory Assistant plays a key role within a collaborative team, reporting directly to the Laboratory and Research Project Lead. This position provides essential technical support for distillation processes through routine laboratory analysis, ensuring compliance with established schedules. Additionally, the role offers critical assistance to production operations, including troubleshooting issues, reviewing technical work instructions, and performing accurate laboratory instrument checks to maintain quality standards. The key responsibilities are:
The ideal candidate will hold a scientific qualification at HNC level or above and possess strong laboratory technical skills. They should be fully competent in standard analytical methods and wet chemistry techniques, although full training will be provided if required. Experience within the drinks industry, familiarity with company products, and knowledge of analytical techniques are preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and general computer skills is essential. The role requires the ability to multitask, prioritise effectively, and demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills. Candidates should be able to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently.
