Job summary

Cygnet Wast Hills is hiring a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our kitchen team. You will help prepare and serve meals, maintain hygiene and support residents in a care setting.

Working 40 hours per week on a 7-day rota (4 x 10-hour shifts from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm), you will contribute to a welcoming environment while following COSHH and safety procedures. A DBS check is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals.
• Perform basic food preparation and kitchen duties.
• WASH utensils and store them properly.
• Sort, store and distribute ingredients; check deliveries and assist with stock ordering.
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean and hygienic.
• Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment per procedures.
• Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.

Cygnet Group are looking for a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Cygnet Wast Hills. Working 40 hours per week on a 7-day rota (4 x 10-hour shifts from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm), you'll help prepare and serve meals, maintain high hygiene standards and contribute to a welcoming environment for the people we support.

Cygnet Wast Hills provides dedicated, person-centred support to men with learning disabilities, autism and associated complex needs in a robust environment. The service has a number of independent and communal living spaces for the individuals we support, to maximise opportunities to progress through their care pathway towards greater independence.

Your Day-to-Day

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties
• Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
• Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Ha zardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.

• Passionate about catering, preferably with experience within a care setting
• Enthusiastic, keen to learn and an active team member
• Polite & professional, with a positive attitude at all times
• An excellent communicator who can liaise with people at all levels
• Able to work on your own initiative & under supervision
• Diligent & take pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness.
