Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Ealing in London is hiring a Kitchen Assistant to support the Chef and maintain a hygienic, orderly kitchen across a 7-day rota.

You will help prepare meals, wash dishes, check deliveries, and keep areas clean and safe in line with HACCP and COSHH.

The role offers shifts 7:30am-3:30pm or 10am-7pm, 37.5 hours weekly, with a benefits package including pension, subsidised meals and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• Previous catering experience
• Knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety Training
• Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

We are currently recruiting for Kitchen Assistant with previous experience working in a catering or kitchen environment at Cygnet Hospital Ealing.

Our current need is to cover early and late shifts, working full-time (37.5 hours a week) across a 7 day rota (Monday – Sunday)

• Early shift times – 7:30am – 3:30pm
• Late shift times – 10am – 7pm

You will assist the Chef in ensuring that all catering areas are maintained in a hygienic, clean, tidy and safe manner, as per the operational standards, and assist in all relevant aspects of the catering operation as required.

Cygnet Hospital Ealing provides a welcoming, non-institutional environment, offering personalised treatment for service users with an eating disorder or personality disorder over two separate wards.

Your day to day…

• Assist the team in the providing balanced, appetising meals
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties
• Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering
• Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Hospital. To maintain and demonstrate a positive attitude toward clients, their families, staff, visitors and others
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
• Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.

• Previous catering experience

• Passionate about catering, preferably with experience within a care setting

• Have good personal hygiene standards
• Able to work on your own initiative & under supervision
• Diligent & take pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness
• Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
