Oaklands in Hexham, Northumberland, is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our team. You will work full time, 40 hours per week, on 10-hour shifts from 8am to 6pm on a rota, supporting residents with learning disabilities and complex needs in a specialist residential service.

Daily duties include meal preparation, basic cooking, washing up, stock handling, maintaining hygiene, and following COSHH guidelines. DBS check required; £13.15–£13.45 per hour after three months.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering, preferably in a care setting.
• Enthusiastic, keen to learn and a team player.
• Polite and professional with a positive attitude.
• Strong communication with colleagues at all levels.
• Able to work on your own initiative under supervision.
• Diligent and committed to high cleanliness standards.

Responsabilités

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties
• Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with COSHH regulations

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Oaklands. Oaklands is a specialist residential service with nursing, supporting individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs in Hexham, Northumberland. The team support individuals who have additional mental or physical health needs and behaviours that may challenge.

You'll be working full time 40 hours a week, working 10 hour shifts 8am to 6pm on a rota basis.

Day-to-Day

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties
• Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
• Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations
