Job summary

Cygnet is recruiting a Kitchen Assistant for Oaklands in Hexham, Northumberland. You will join a 40-hour week, 10-hour shifts from 8am to 6pm on a rota, helping provide balanced meals and maintain kitchen hygiene.

The role requires a passion for catering, teamwork, and good communication; enhanced DBS is required. The salary starts at £13.15 per hour rising to £13.45 after 3 months, with pension and cycle-to-work benefits.

• Passion for catering, preferably with care setting experience.

• Excellent communicator who can liaise with people at all levels.
• Able to work on your own initiative & under supervision.
• Diligent & take pride in maintaining high cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties
• Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
• Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Oaklands. Oaklands is a specialist residential service with nursing, supporting individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs in Hexham, Northumberland. The team support individuals who have additional mental or physical health needs and behaviours that may challenge.

You’ll be working full time 40 hours a week, working 10 hour shifts 8am to 6pm on a rota basis.

Your Day-to-Day…

• Assist the team in the providing balanced, appetising meals
