Junior Software Tester Opportunity in Central Brighton - Up to £28k
Software Tester Opportunity in Brighton for a highly successful Software company. You will be working alongside an agile team who work well with established e-commerce and retail companies.
This role is onsite full-time and is paying up to £28k.
This role unfortunately does not offer visa sponsorship.
Tester Role Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the project team to understand project requirements and objectives. Develop detailed test plans that outline the scope, test objectives, and test strategies.
- Create and maintain comprehensive test cases, test scripts, and test data that cover various aspects of the software, including functionality and usability.
- Execute test cases and record test results systematically. Identify defects, track them in a defect tracking system, and work with developers to ensure timely resolution.
- Conduct regression testing to verify that software changes and updates do not introduce new defects or negatively impact existing functionality.
- Maintain detailed documentation of test plans, test cases, and test results. Ensure that testing processes are well-documented and easily accessible to team members.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and business analysts, end users, to ensure a shared understanding of project requirements and quality goals.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging testing methodologies. Suggest process improvements to enhance the overall quality assurance process.
- Generate and distribute test reports to project stakeholders, including management, to communicate the status of testing efforts and any identified issues.
Skills & Experience Required
- 1 year plus commercial software testing experience
- Software Testing Fundamentals: Understanding the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and how it integrates with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Test Case Design: The ability to write clear and reproducible test cases
- Bug Reporting and Tracking - some understanding of tools like Jira or similar to document defects with precise steps to reproduce.
- Manual Testing experience
- Some experience of API Testing would be useful but not essential - Basic knowledge of testing web services using tools like TestRail or Postman.
- Some familiarity of SQL would be useful, but not essential.
- Attention to Detail and a analytical & logical thinking approach
- Good Communication skills.
- Eagerness to Learn. Happy to accept training and ambitious to improve skills and progress your career.
- ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level or similar would be useful but not essential.
