Umbra Studio is seeking a Junior Product Designer to support internal initiatives and custom projects. This role is centered on developing, refining, and executing thoughtful design solutions, with opportunities to contribute fresh, “wow” ideas for future catalogue development. You’ll play a key role in helping projects move forward by translating briefs, market insights, and client needs into well‑executed outcomes.
The ideal candidate is curious, works smart, communicates clearly, and enjoys collaborating closely with Designers and Design Leads in a fast‑paced, hands‑on studio environment.
1. Work Style & Personality Requirements
Efficient & Adaptable – Able to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities. Works smart, stays organized, and delivers quality work within tight timelines.
Team Player – This role works closely with Designers and Design Leads on a daily basis. Clear communication, listening skills, and collaboration are essential.
2. Technical Strengths Required – MUST
AI‑Assisted Workflow – Interest in or experience using AI tools to improve efficiency, support creative tasks, and assist design processes.
3D CAD Skills – Working knowledge of SolidWorks, with the ability to learn and adapt to Onshape.
2D Graphic Skills – Ability to create or edit graphics to support products, presentations, and documentation.

4. Portfolio Requirement
The portfolio should demonstrate strong execution skills, including CAD work, graphics, process thinking, and problem‑solving.
The portfolio must also include at least one example showing how the candidate has worked with AI tools.
5. Experience
Minimum 1 year of professional or internship experience in Industrial Design or Product Design.
6. Education
Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Industrial Design or a related field.
7. Mindset
Entrepreneurial, proactive, and solution oriented. Comfortable supporting others, taking directions, and contributing to team success in a private, design‑driven company.
8. Organizational & Communication Skills
Strong time management, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate design intent clearly, both visually and verbally.
$50,000 - $60,000
