Job description

United Autosports – McLaren Hypercar Programme

Full-time, travelling role

If you’re a capable young engineer with real technical ability — not a graduate who needs babysitting — and you’re serious about performance engineering at the highest level, this is the opportunity.

About the Role

As a Junior Performance Engineer, you’ll support data analysis, run plans, setup work, tyre analysis, stint modelling and real‑time monitoring. You’ll work under experienced Performance and Race Engineers while contributing meaningful technical output from day one.

This role gives you exposure to every element of performance engineering — and a real pathway to progression.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Processing, validating and analysing car data using tools such as ATLAS, Wintax, MATLAB or similar.
  • Producing plots, overlays, correlations and trends for setup evaluation.
  • Supporting run plans, performance documentation, debriefs and event preparation.
  • Assisting with simulation data and basic modelling support.
  • Monitoring the car live during sessions under supervision.
  • Supporting tyre analysis, stint strategy work and performance comparison.
  • Maintaining disciplined documentation and data organisation.
  • Assisting with instrumentation, sensors and channel validation.
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in mechanical, motorsport or automotive engineering.
  • Hands‑on experience with data analysis tools and performance engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical mindset, high attention to detail and a structured approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver accurate work quickly.
  • Excellent communication with engineers and operational colleagues.
  • Someone eager to learn fast, contribute immediately and grow inside a top‑tier programme.

This role gives you real responsibility, real development and real relevance — from day one.
