Job description

Junior Grower
Hampshire

Been working in horticulture or recently qualified and looking to start a career in growing?
Want to find a business that will invest in you?
This business does this. Depending on your current qualifications, they will put you through your spray courses, a formal horticulture qualification, as well as the opportunity to visit other growers in Europe.

You'll also be based on the South Coast, so you can fill your weekends with beach trips and walks in the New Forest!

What will I be doing?

Reporting to, and working closely with the Head Grower, you will support irrigation management, pest and disease management, and crop husbandry. They will put you in different areas of the nursery when you join, so you get to understand the process from seed to distribution. As well as this, you will be actively involved in crop walks and support on any ongoing projects.

What do I need?

There is training for the right person, but we're looking for someone with a qualification in horticulture and a basic understanding of how a commercial, large-scale nursery works. You will be keen to work in horticulture and have a real enthusiasm to learn and develop.

Who for?

They are a busy family-run nursery, with their values still at the core of what they do. As well as investing in their people, they also continually invest in their site to ensure they have the latest innovative technology suitable for growing a range of unique plants. They keep themselves busy by supplying to large supermarkets chains and garden centres, and with them growing in glass it's always busy!
