Job summary

MDPI in Manchester is seeking a recent PhD or Master’s graduate to join the Editorial team as an Assistant Editor. This entry-level, full-time, in-office role is based in our city centre office in Manchester, UK.

You will support the editorial workflow, organize the peer review process, and handle communications between authors, reviewers, and editors while collaborating with production teams. No prior editorial experience is required, with training provided to onboarding staff.

Qualifications

• A PhD (preferred) or Master’s degree in a field related to Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering / Computer Science, Telecommunication / Information Engineering, Automation & Control Engineering, Microelectronics / Semiconductor Devices / Photonics, Mechatronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics / Applied Physics, Materials Science.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Team player with the capability to work in a dynamic, international environment.
• Detail oriented with the capacity to see the big picture.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Very good communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the editorial process for academic research journals in your domain of expertise
• Organize peer review process for submitted manuscripts and coordinate editorial decisions
• Handle email communication between the parties involved in the publication process
• Collaborate with other members of the editorial team and production team
• Ensure that scholarly articles are accurately edited and published according to tight deadlines with a high degree of consistency
