Job summary

MDPI in Manchester is seeking recent PhD and Master’s graduates for an entry-level, full-time Assistant Editor role based in our city centre office. You will support editorial workflows, coordinate peer review, and manage communications to ensure timely publication.

No prior editorial experience is required as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided, with opportunities to work on journals across fields and engage with the scholarly community in an open-access environment.

Qualifications

• PhD (preferred) or Master’s degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering / CS, Telecommunication / Inf., Automation & Control, Microelectronics / Photonics, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, Physics / Applied Physics, Materials Science.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Team player capable of thriving in a dynamic, international environment.
• Detail oriented with ability to see the big picture and strong organizational/time-management skills.
• Very good communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the editorial process for academic research journals in your domain of expertise.
• Organize peer review process for submitted manuscripts and coordinate editorial decisions.
• Handle email communication between parties involved in the publication process.
• Collaborate with editorial and production teams.
• Ensure articles are edited and published accurately and on tight deadlines with high consistency.
