Junior Clinical Fellow – Plastic Surgery

Interviews are scheduled to take place on 17th December 2025.

We are looking to appoint a junior clinical fellow to our innovative and ambitious Plastic Surgery department which is expanding clinically in terms of consultants, workload and increasing sub-specialisation for an initial period of 6 months from February 2026.

N.B. We reserve the right to close a vacancy before the closing date if we receive a high volume of applications or if there has been a change in organisational priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for assisting in providing plastic surgical services to the Trust
  • Examining and clerking in patients prior to both elective and emergency procedures
  • Supporting the plastic surgery ward round each morning Monday – Friday
  • Taking responsibility for inpatient care on the ward alongside the Advanced Clinical Practitioners.
  • Completing discharge summaries and request forms for investigation
  • Supporting a 1 in 7 SHO level day and night-time on-call rota
  • Active involvement and participation in the clinical audit programme
  • Delivery of emergency care in the Hand Assessment Unit
  • Supporting the operating teams in theatre and treatment rooms.
  • The post holder will be required to participate fully in the education and training of medical students, trainee doctors, paramedical, nursing and other appropriate personnel.
Qualifications & Training

As part of our commitment to patients and delivery of a world class service for all we have created the UHCW Improvement (UHCWi) System in partnership with the Virginia Mason Institute in Seattle; this involves a structured approach to removing waste and putting the patient first using a lean management system and methodologies. You are expected, where identified, to attend and complete relevant training and development opportunities to support this. This may include Lean for Leaders, Advanced Lean Training, and the Human Factors Programme, amongst others. Full attendance and completion of identified courses is considered essential and a prerequisite for this post.
