Qualifications

  • Experience in Lift / Escalator Servicing / Maintenance / Repairs – preferred.
  • Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift / Escalator maintenance or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work towards Schindler Certification Level 3 Red.
  • The ability to work independently with a flexible approach.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Service Technician – Portsmouth
Your main responsibilities
  • Carry out routine servicing of lift / escalator equipment including minor repair work and the routine replacement of components and in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert, etc).
  • To rectify and reduce faults on lift / escalator equipment in cases of breakdown and check to confirm correct functioning.
  • Check the lift / escalator function as part of maintenance checks to include speed, motor start / stop, weight, noise, temperature and power supplies using approved company issued tooling and protective equipment.
  • Carry out the routine inspection and adjustment of lift / escalator in accordance with approved procedures. Reinstate lift / escalator and complete service documentation.
  • Carrying out more advanced fault‑finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, technical manuals and appropriate test equipment, restoring equipment to service. Competence is required to make effective use of written or graphical information.
  • Carry out site surveys and attend all relevant training sessions to keep up to date on technical knowledge and skills.
  • Work in accordance with the Company’s Safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements as well as setting a personal example of safe behaviour.
  • Contribute to the Company safety objectives where necessary by maintaining / monitoring current safety systems under their direct control and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to its safety management system.
What you bring
  • Experience in Lift / Escalator Servicing / Maintenance / Repairs – preferred.
  • Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift / Escalator maintenance or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work towards Schindler Certification Level 3 Red.
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical knowledge including multi‑brand equipment.
  • Advanced problem‑solving skills.
  • The ability to work under pressure to deadlines and within efficiencies.
  • The ability to work independently with a flexible approach.
  • Good communication skills at different levels (client / service leader / inspectors).
  • Manual dexterity – requires the use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate various hand and power tools and to record written information.
  • Proven fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good administration skills and punctuality.
  • Full UK driving licence.
