Job summary

Sydney Mitchell LLP IT is seeking an IT support engineer to join a small team servicing approximately 90 users across 4 sites. Based at Shirley, Solihull, with occasional visits to other offices.

You will troubleshoot hardware and software, support the IT network manager, and work with a bespoke case management system to develop user-friendly solutions and training materials. The role involves developing client-facing solutions and contributing to system integration projects.

Qualifications

• Strong inter-personal skills.
• Formal IT qualifications or demonstrable experience/training within an IT department.

Job description

IT support engineer required to work as a member of a small team servicing approx. 90 users across 4 sites. Based at Shirley, Solihull there will be a requirement to visit other offices from time to time.

The role will include:

• Supporting users on a range of software and hardware issues
• Supporting the IT network manager
• Working with the IT database administrator to enhance the use of the systems and the user experience
• Training new and existing users and developing training materials

• Developing applications
• Evaluating and implementing projects to integrate other third party software with the existing systems

The successful candidate will need experience with:

• Multi tasking within a small IT team
• Supporting users with hardware and software issues
• Prioritising and completing projects and tasks to deadlines
• Learning and using new programming languages
• Liaising effectively with third party software suppliers

Requirements:

The successful candidate should have:

• Strong inter-personal skills
• Formal IT qualifications (not necessarily to degree level) or demonstrable experience/training within an IT department

Given the size of the business this is a wide ranging role supporting all aspects of IT systems. You will be working closely with the rest of the team. You are likely to have worked in a small business where you have been exposed to a wide range of duties.
