Job summary

Arcas Technology Ltd in Grantham is seeking a hands-on IT Support Technician to join a small, close-knit IT team. You will be the first point of contact for day-to-day IT support across office and operational sites, working closely with the IT Manager and taking ownership of your work.

The role covers 1st/2nd line support, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, basic networking, backups, device provisioning, and occasional site visits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in IT support, ideally in a smaller business.
• Solid working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.
• Good grasp of networking basics: IP, DHCP, DNS and connectivity.
• Practical fault finding with ability to explain issues to non-technical users.
• Comfortable working in both office and operational environments.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to commute to Grantham.

Responsibilities

• Administering Microsoft 365, Active Directory and Entra ID (user accounts, mailboxes, permissions and shared folders)
• Diagnosing and fixing network and connectivity issues, from IP addressing to switches and Wi‑Fi
• Supporting backups and restores, and helping keep systems secure and up to date
• Building and deploying laptops and devices, and writing clear how-to guides for users
• Occasionally visiting other sites to support staff and equipment

This is a varied, all round role where you’ll be the first point of contact for day to day IT support across office and operational sites. You’ll work closely with the IT Manager and have real ownership of your work, rather than just logging tickets and passing them on.

What you’ll be doing

• Providing 1st and 2nd line support to users across the business, in person and remotely
• Administering Microsoft 365, Active Directory and Entra ID (user accounts, mailboxes, permissions and shared folders)
• Diagnosing and fixing network and connectivity issues, from IP addressing to switches and Wi‑Fi
• Supporting backups and restores, and helping keep systems secure and up to date
• Building and deploying laptops and devices, and writing clear how-to guides for usersOccasionally visiting other sites to support staff and equipment
• In time, helping to mentor a junior or apprentice

What we’re looking for

• 2+ years in an IT support role, ideally within a smaller business where you’ve had to get involved in everything
• Solid working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365 and Active Directory
• A good grasp of networking basics, including IP, DHCP, DNS and troubleshooting connectivity
• A practical, curious approach to fault finding, and confidence explaining things to non-technical users
• Comfortable working in both office and operational environments
