Job summary

Thinking Technology is seeking to appoint an IT Engineer primarily based at The Victory Academy. The role will involve advanced troubleshooting, day-to-day configuration and support of IT infrastructure across The Thinking Schools Academy Trust and partner sites.

You will work with Trust IT staff and external suppliers to plan, develop, implement, support and train colleagues in equipment and services, with an 08:00–16:00 shift (Friday finish 15:30).

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex IT issues across devices and networks.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure across multiple sites preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IT hardware, software, and networking concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer comments and complaints, resolving them where possible, escalating as appropriate
  • Remain calm under pressure, and adjust to changes in work priorities based on conflicting operational needs
  • Communicate with customers including students, staff, directors, governors, guests, suppliers and contractors
  • Provide advanced fault resolution and troubleshooting using multiple sources of complex data for IT devices and network equipment
  • Lead infrastructure triage and customer engagement, prioritising workload with defined SLAs
  • Undertake day-to-day operation of IT devices, servers, LAN, WLAN and services, including preventive maintenance
  • Analyse complex system and service logs to identify patterns indicating underlying issues or threats and triaging accordingly

Job description

Thinking Technology are seeking to appoint an IT Engineer, who will be primarily based at The Victory Academy. Travel to other sites within the hub may be required to cover absence or provide additional support when required.

The successful post-holder will provide advanced, detailed troubleshooting, support and day-to-day configuration of Infrastructure equipment, systems, and services- within Information Technology (IT) across all of The Thinking Schools Academy Trust and its academies and partners.

You will work with the constructively and proactively with other members of the Trust IT staff and third-party suppliers to ensure that ICT services are supported, assisting with planning, development, implementation, support and testing, and training of colleagues for equipment and services, as directed.

37 hours per week, standard shift: 08:00 - 16:00 (finish 15:30 on a Friday) subject to operational need.

  • To respond to, both orally and in person, customer comments and complaints, resolving them where possible, escalating as appropriate
  • To be calm under pressure, and adjusting to changes in work priorities based on conflicting operational need, maintaining a positive customer engagement
  • To be approachable, communicating with customers ranging from students, staff, directors, governors, guest, and suppliers and contractors, responding to a range of difficult issues and requests
  • To provide advanced fault resolution/troubleshooting using multiple sources of complex data for issues affecting IT devices and network equipment across all Trust sites
  • To lead the infrastructure triage, and customer engagement, prioritising workload and tasks independently using defined SLAs, providing detailed updates for actions taken to assist customers and colleagues
  • To undertake the day-to-day operation of IT devices, servers, LAN, WLAN, and services, under minimal direction, including the undertaking of preventative maintenance and administrative tasks
  • To analyse a range of complex system and service logs continuously and proactively, to identify patterns that may indicate underlying issues or threats and their severity, and triaging effectively
