Job summary

A leading legal recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Consumer Credit & Retail Finance Lawyer for an interim position with a global payments and credit business. This role requires over 5 years of PQE and solid knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks. The assignment starts in September 2025 and is intended to last for approximately 3-4 months, with a hybrid working pattern in Central London.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years' PQE in consumer credit and retail finance law.
  • Solid knowledge of UK regulatory regimes.
  • Experience from a top law firm or in-house financial services environment.

  • Support the UK Products Legal Team with consumer credit issues.

Job description

We are working with a leading ALSP to offer an exciting interim assignment with a global payments and credit business. The role is ideally suited to an experienced Consumer Credit & Retail Finance Lawyer seeking a short-term opportunity to contribute to a high-profile in-house team.

You will be supporting the UK Products Legal Team with an increased workload, advising on a wide range of matters including:

  • Consumer credit issues relating to credit card products and services.
  • Third-party supplier arrangements connected to retail finance.
  • Regulatory considerations around running account credit, including application of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and other relevant UK/global payment regimes.

We are looking for a qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with:

  • 5+ years' PQE in consumer credit and retail finance law.
  • Solid knowledge of UK regulatory regimes (and awareness of global frameworks).
  • Experience from a top law firm and/or in-house financial services environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Availability to commit to a short-term assignment starting September 2025.

Contract Details:

  • Start Date: September 2025 (ASAP)
  • Duration: Until December 2025 (approx. 3-4 months)
  • Working Pattern: Full-time, hybrid (2 days per week in London office)
  • Location: Central London
  • IR35: Inside
