Job description

Due to the growth of Slingsby Advanced Composites, we are looking to expand our Quality Team. We are based in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, where we produces complex composite structures that are predominantly used to manufacture vital parts on ships, submarines and aircraft. From bespoke one-off designs to low-volume manufacture, the business enjoys a unique place within its sector thanks to its application of ground-breaking technologies that drive the industry forward.

Purpose of the position

The role is to ensure that the customer receives a high-quality product in line with process and product specification. The role will provide inspection support at all stages of the manufacturing process, including goods in, and final inspection ready for dispatch. The role will also include undertaking various testing procedures (in line with health and safety requirements) to confirm the integrity of the product and providing expert advice and guidance in respect of quality documentation, procedures and processes.

Tasks
  • Visual and dimensional inspection.
  • To undertake a variety of inspection activities and processes dependant on the business requirements.
  • To assist with any new inspection or measurement methodology and processes.
  • To mentor and train colleagues in the attainment of skills via on the job training or off site if necessary.
  • To have technical knowledge of and able to competently perform test house and technical measurement activities including CMM and Farrow arm.
  • To complete job cards and other required documentation accurately and timely and in line with process.
  • To communicate effectively with other departments to share any issues and contribute to the smooth running of production.
  • To support and liaise with other departments to resolve any quality control issues and suggest improvements where possible.
  • To contribute to Continuous Improvement activities and undertake that at Advanced Composites.
  • To support management team and any regulatory bodies in obtaining any identified accreditation and maintaining compliance.
Experience
  • Experienced in a process driven production environment.
  • Experienced working with composites.
  • Experienced in working in manufacturing environment ideally composite.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Experienced working in a team.
