Job summary

Mitchells & Butlers PLC is seeking an overnight Night Porter to provide a warm, efficient welcome to guests arriving late and to maintain a safe, clean front-of-house area. The role may involve setting up breakfast spaces and assisting with meeting room preparations for the next day.

You will be responsible for guest safety, handling inquiries, and lone working in a fast-paced environment, with a DBS check required as part of recruitment.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact when checking in late arrivals and walk-ins
• Ensure a warm, friendly and genuine welcome to all guests
• Carry out front of house cleaning, breakfast areas, and meeting room setup as required
• Ensure guest and business safety and security is top priority at all times
• Evacuate guests and staff safely in the event of a fire
• Answer telephone enquiries and handle guest complaints to ensure a positive stay

Job description

This is an overnight position, with shifts typically ranging from 11pm to 7am (depending on the site).

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.

What You’ll Do In This Role

• Be the first point of contact when checking in late arrivals and walk‑ins.
• Ensure a warm, friendly and genuine welcome to all guests.
• The role is varied and, depending on your site, may include: cleaning tasks within the front of house, external and breakfast areas, setting up the meeting room(s) and breakfast for the next day
• You’ll ensure guest and business safety and security is top priority at all times.
• In the event of a fire, evacuating all guests and team from the business safely and quickly
• Answer telephone enquiries and deal with guest complaints to ensure everyone enjoys their stay.
