Job summary

Mitchells & Butlers PLC is seeking an Night Porter for overnight shifts (roughly 11pm–7am) at our site in the United Kingdom. You will warmly welcome guests, manage late check-ins, and support front-of-house tasks while upholding safety and service standards.

You should be able to work independently, stay professional under pressure, and communicate clearly with guests and team members. DBS checks are required as part of recruitment.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Ensure a warm, friendly and genuine welcome to all guests.
• Assist with front-of-house cleaning and setup as needed.
• Maintain safety and security of guests and staff at all times.
• Evacuate guests and team safely in case of fire.
• Answer telephone enquiries and handle guest complaints gracefully.

Job description

This is an overnight position, with shifts typically ranging from 11pm to 7am (depending on the site).

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.

What You'll Do In This Role

• Be the first point of contact when checking in late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Ensure a warm, friendly and genuine welcome to all guests.
• The role is varied and, depending on your site, may include: cleaning tasks within the front of house, external and breakfast areas, setting up the meeting room(s) and breakfast for the next day
• You’ll ensure guest and business safety and security is top priority at all times.
• In the event of a fire, evacuating all guests and team from the business safely and quickly
• Answer telephone enquiries and deal with guest complaints to ensure everyone enjoys their stay.
