Job summary

Bromford Flagship LiveWest is thrilled to offer an Independent Living Officer position in Ipswich. This role focuses on fostering a welcoming environment for tenants, assisting them in navigating their tenancies, and connecting them with essential services.

The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills and has experience in sheltered housing. This position is part-time on a 6-month Fixed Term Contract, aiming to make a positive impact on residents’ lives while promoting their independence.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for customers.
• Welcome new residents and help them settle in.
• Provide advice on housing, tenancies, and available services.
• Identify safeguarding concerns and report issues.
• Support residents’ wellbeing by signposting.
• Maintain accurate customer records.
• Promote tenant engagement and encourage participation.
• Assist with the day-to-day running of the scheme.

Skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

As an Independent Living Officer, you’ll be at the heart of one of our sheltered housing schemes, playing a key role in supporting our customers to thrive. This is a highly visible, people‑focused role where you’ll build meaningful relationships, provide practical support, and create a positive, welcoming environment for residents.

You’ll be more than just a point of contact—you’ll be a trusted presence, helping residents navigate their tenancies, access services, and feel truly at home in their community.

Location: Ipswich and surrounding areas

Hours: 16 hpw

Contract: 6 month Fixed Term Contract

What You’ll Be Doing

• Acting as the first point of contact for customers within the scheme
• Welcoming new residents and helping them settle in
• Providing advice and guidance on housing, tenancies, and available services
• Identifying safeguarding concerns, health & safety risks, and reporting issues appropriately
• Supporting residents’ wellbeing by signposting to relevant agencies and services
• Maintaining accurate customer records and sharing information where needed
• Promoting tenant engagement and encouraging resident participation
• Assisting with the smooth day‑to‑day running of the scheme

What You’ll Bring
