Job summary

Peterborough City Council is seeking a dedicated DFG Caseworker to join the Care and Repair Service, supporting residents to access funding and adapt homes. You will work with Occupational Therapists, contractors, families, and health and social care professionals to deliver safe, accessible homes and a positive customer experience.

Interviews will take place at Sand Martin House; you will manage a varied caseload from referral through to completion and post-installation review, ensuring

Qualifications

• Experience in housing, health, social care, welfare benefits or community settings.
• Experience supporting vulnerable people and working with the public.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for relationships with residents, families, carers, contractors and partners.
• Strong organisational skills to manage a varied caseload, deadlines and records.
• Ability to complete assessments and complex forms accurately and confidently.
• Good IT skills and use of electronic systems to record/share information.
• Understanding needs of older/disabled/vulnerable people and commitment to customer service.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible/adaptable to service demands.
• Full driving licence and ability to travel across Peterborough for home visits.

Responsibilities

• Support residents with DFG applications and other funding streams.
• Undertake means-testing assessments for client contributions.
• Carry out welfare benefits checks to maximise income.
• Manage cases from referral to completion and post-installation review.
• Liaise with residents, families, carers, contractors and health/social care professionals.
• Maintain records and ensure compliance with legislation and policies.
• Provide advice on adaptation options and support services.
