Job summary

SENse Learning seeks Education Assistants to mentor and support young people with complex needs in home and community settings. Roles cover Education Mentor, SEN Teaching Assistant, and Learning Support Mentor with ongoing hiring and flexible session planning with parents or schools.

Ideal candidates are experienced in supporting SEND learners, with DBS and safeguarding mindset, and a commitment to non-traditional education approaches that empower students.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience working with children or young people with complex additional needs
• Ability to work in a child-centred, holistic way
• Knowledge of safeguarding/safe learning environments

Responsibilities

• Develop strong relationships with children and young people who may have faced challenges in previous education settings
• Provide one-to-one support in homes and community settings with creative activities
• Support life skills, confidence and independence development
• Use trauma-informed approaches to support diverse needs
• Model and encourage emotional regulation
• Provide feedback to track progress and adapt support
