Job summary

GE HealthCare is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, maintain and repair X-ray systems across the Midlands and broader UK. The role blends hands-on engineering with remote diagnostics from a home office, plus travel when required.

You will diagnose complex faults, support customers, and collaborate with service centres and engineering teams. A proactive, self-motivated attitude, driving licence, and training are essential.

Qualifications

• HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Field service experience is preferred; full training provided.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, organised and able to work independently.
• Experience with remote connectivity tools and diagnostics.
• Good IT skills including software installation and troubleshooting.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair X-ray systems across the Midlands and wider UK.
• Diagnose and resolve complex system-level faults across multi-technology platforms.
• Build strong relationships with healthcare professionals to ensure uptime and satisfaction.
• Provide remote diagnostics and support from a home office.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, service centres, and sales to deliver service.
• Manage tools, spare parts, and travel logistics efficiently.
• Complete all documentation accurately and on time.
• Travel approximately 35-40% of the time, with occasional overnight stays.
• Attend international training courses as required.
• Be flexible to support overtime, callouts and weekend shifts (1 in 4 weekends).
