Job summary

Outwood Academy Redcar, part of Outwood Grange Academies Trust, is seeking an ICT Technician to join the existing ICT support team. The role focuses on first-line ICT support, hardware and software upkeep, and assisting with software evaluations.

Responsibilities include managing helpdesk calls, maintaining ICT rooms, and contributing to ICT-related meetings and inventories. The position offers professional development through the Outwood Institute of Education.

  • The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of general hardware and software, be highly organised and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first line ICT support to staff and students.
  • Assist with the maintenance of ICT rooms and equipment.
  • Assist with general technical support for the ICT department.
  • Assist in evaluating new and existing software.
  • Attend ICT related meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Assist in developing recording systems for ICT usage.
  • Keep ICT software/hardware inventories up to date.
  • Assist in providing technical support for staff presentations.
  • Adhere to health and safety legislation relevant to duties.
  • Commission, maintain, test and repair electronic/computer systems and AV equipment.
  • Install and configure software under the direction of the network manager.

About The Role

We invite applications from enthusiastic and flexible ICT support specialists to join our existing ICT support team. The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of general hardware and software as well as being highly organised and having excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team is essential and experience of working in an ICT support role or similar would be an advantage.

Main Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage own workload through the allocation of calls via the helpdesk;
  • Providing first line ICT support to staff and students;
  • Assist with the maintenance of all ICT rooms and equipment;
  • Assist with general technical support for the ICT department;
  • Assist with the evaluation of new and existing software;
  • Attend and contribute to ICT related meetings;
  • Assist in the development of recording systems for ICT usage throughout the department;
  • Assist in keeping the ICT software/hardware inventories up to date;
  • Assist in providing technical support for staff presentations;
  • Be aware of and adhere to all relevant health and safety legislation associated with duties undertaken;
  • Commission, maintain, test and repair electronic/computer systems, associated peripherals and AV equipment ensuring this equipment complies with health & safety legislation;
  • Install and configure software under the direction of the network manager.
