About the role

As a I&C Technician, UK ICS you will become part of the nuclear industry's leading edge. You\'ll have the opportunity to use your skills and experience to the full, in an environment in which excellence is always paramount.

The Principal I&C Engineer will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide technical guidance in developing and providing technical oversight for projects across the global nuclear industry. The position will entail whole life technical involvement from interpretation of customer requirements during tendering, through to concept development, detailed design, manufacturing support, testing, installation, obsolescence management and plant life extension on a Nuclear Licensed site.

You will report to the Customer Solutions Manager UK ICS and be located at Gateshead.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the electrical, control and instrumentation aspects of major projects covering a lifecycle of activities from requirements capture, through front end and detailed design, implementation oversight and support and testing and commissioning together with design substantiation system.
  • Preparing tenders/quotations to customer specifications ensuring diligent costing to minimise financial risks.
  • Generation of Front-End Engineering Design packages.
  • Leading Projects including refurbishments of old ageing design and new design, and with a wide range of electrical, control and instrumentation equipment, analogue (non-smart) and digital (smart) instrumentation and systems (relay based, solid state, PLC).
  • Good knowledge of Power Electronics Circuit Design.
  • Good knowledge of Analogue Control Schemes.
  • Creation of Ageing & Obsolescence technical review reports on existing systems.
Qualifications
  • Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineering expertise, Degree qualified or equivalent.
  • A track record of working as an Electrical and/or Control & Instrumentation Engineer within the Nuclear Industry (preferable) or other highly regulated industry.
  • A strong Commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in leading and developing others
  • An understanding of the fundamental factors which contribute to business success
  • Competent user of a recognised CAD package for the production of drawings and schematic diagrams.
