Job summary

Balvac, a specialist business within Balfour Beatty, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support pre- and post-contract activities across multiple live projects in the UK. You will help drive commercial excellence, manage budgets and cash flow, and ensure robust governance while visiting sites as needed.

The role offers hybrid working with offices in Warrington, Derby or Leeds, and flexible working from home.

Qualifications

• Strong negotiation and stakeholder skills.
• Good IT, numeracy and reporting skills.
• Knowledge of construction law, NEC contracts, tendering and procurement.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage commercial strategy and profitability for schemes.
• Maintain contract cost reporting and forecast costs.
• Monitor costs to completion and manage budgets, variations, and change.
• Administer subcontract tenders, placement and accounts.
• Manage applications for payment, cash flow and valuation plans.
• Support project reviews and monthly reporting to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with BMS and commercial expectations.
• Build strong relationships with customers, supply chain and internal teams.
